Miss Wimbledon 2008
Find Their Title Sponsor
News: 08.02.08

Bar Sia this week signed a contract with Miss Wimbledon 2008 to become the official title sponsor for the contest, it emerged yesterday. The popular bar & club, located next to New Wimbledon Theatre, have eliminated some of the fiancial risk associated with hiring the theatre and implementing the ambitious marketing campaign.

In a statement made by Mark McGough, Creator & Producer of Miss Wimbledon, he said "By sponsoring us they wi
ll gain a lot. We'll be holding several mini shows in their venue to choose the finalists and also the after show party. This means more people in the bar and therefore higher turnover."

But these aren't just words. On 1st December 2007 The Slug and Lettuce saw record spending at the bar, when they held the first Miss Wimbledon with Mr McGough.

The ambitious marketing campaign will start in March, reaching millions of people in South West London, North Surrey and Merton.

When Lara Baker, the current Miss Wimbledon Beauty Queen, was asked what advice she'd give to this years contestants she said "Really bring out your personality, because that's what makes you individual and be confident too!"

Information About the Contest

Miss Wimbledon is a beauty contest designed to raise the profile of young artists & designers, organised by Nano magazine.

Female beauty has the power to turn heads, stop moving traffic and make people pay attention. Artists on the other hand find it very difficult to get noticed. The problem is that art is not commercial and so most artists struggle to market their work on a zero budget. Successful brands on the other hand have been using good looks to sell their products for as long as anyone can remember. The lesson? Looks sell. The solution? Hold a beauty contest to promote young artists & designers.

On Saturday 1st December we held the first ever official Miss Wimbledon contest. It was a huge success and as a result the 2008 show is already in the making.
