The Jano
The Alfa Romeo Supercar started as a study of “what is Italian” developed through the study of Italian history, culture and the history of Alfa Romeo. Jano the name given to this car comes from Vittorio Jano, the head engineer of Alfa Romeo during the golden age of Alfa.
Vittorio engineered, amongst others, the brilliant 8C, many of his innovative designs can still be seen on modern Alfa Romeos. In the spirit of Vittorio Jano this electric Alfa Romeo is propelled by four electric engines supplied by two gas turbines (yes, jet engines) connected
to generators.
This set-up supplies enough electricity to take advantage of electric motors inherent torque and high RPMs. Because of the constant supply of electricity, only a small “surge” battery would be needed, reducing weight.
