Plug in City

How does a city expand when there is little land left for expansion? With the increasing influence of climate change, the River Thames running through the heart of the city and the growing aspirations of the cities inhabitants does our future accommodate a new type of ‘pleasure’ living on and by the water?

By working within the floodplain, controlling how, where and how much the water encroaches in times of flooding, new opportunities arise for both the environments use and human habitation. A huge new settlement is proposed that is partly flooded and floating and partly raised above the water.

Aspirations to live on and overlooking the water are realised throughout raised parkscapes as well as work, transport and shopping. Looking out across the water gives you the feeling of knowing your neighbours.
